The short version: We collect only what we need to make your book. Photos of your child are used to generate the illustrations and are not used to train AI models for other customers. We delete them from our own servers as soon as the book is generated; our AI partners may briefly retain them for up to 30 days for safety review before deleting. We never sell your data. Ever.
Who we are
Lil adventure ("we", "us", "our") provides personalized AI-illustrated storybooks. This policy explains how we handle personal information for parents, guardians, and the children whose books we create.

What we collect
From the parent or guardian (you)
- Your name and email address
- Payment information (processed by our payment provider — we never see your card details)
- Your communications with us
About the child the book is for
- The child's first name (or chosen story name)
- Photos you upload
- Story details you share — age range, favorite color, who they love, what makes them brave, the world they'll explore
Automatically
- Basic technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited — used only to keep the site working and secure
- Cookies for essential site functionality (no third-party advertising cookies)
How we use it
- To make your book. Photos and story details are used to generate the personalized illustrations and writing.
- To deliver your book. Your email is used to send the finished PDF and order confirmations.
- To support you. If you contact us, we'll use your information to respond.
- To keep the service running. Technical data helps us spot bugs and prevent abuse.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not share photos of your child with advertisers or marketers.
- We do not use the photos you upload to train AI models that other customers might use.
- We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
- Photos — on our own servers: Deleted as soon as the book is generated, typically within hours of upload, or sooner if you request it.
- Photos — at our AI partners: When we send a photo to a third-party AI service to generate the illustrations, that partner may retain it temporarily — typically up to 30 days — for abuse detection, safety review, and operational logging. After that window the partner deletes the copy, unless legally required to keep it longer (for example, in response to a court order or a child-safety investigation). Our partners are contractually prohibited from using your photos to train models or for any purpose other than running the service.
- The generated book PDF: Kept for 12 months so you can re-download it from your order link, then deleted.
- Order records (your name, email, what you bought): Kept for as long as we're legally required to (typically 6 years for tax and accounting purposes in the UK).
- Marketing emails (if you opted in): Until you unsubscribe.
Children's privacy
Lil adventure is a service used by adults (parents, guardians, gift-givers) to create books for children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has provided us with personal information without your involvement, please email us at privacy@liladventure.com and we will delete it.
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the US and the UK GDPR's protections for children's data.
Where your data lives
Our service uses cloud infrastructure based in the UK, EU, and US. By using lil adventure, you consent to the international transfer of your data, protected under standard contractual clauses where required.
Third parties we work with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run lil adventure:
- Payment processor — to handle your purchase securely
- Cloud hosting — to store the site and your book PDF
- AI providers — used to generate the illustrations and text under contracts that prohibit them from retaining or training on your data
- Email delivery — to send you your book and order confirmations
Each provider is contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Your rights
Under UK and EU GDPR, and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to:
- Ask us what data we hold about you
- Request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the UK, that's the ICO at ico.org.uk)
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@liladventure.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep the site working — for example, to remember your shopping cart. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll let you know by email or with a prominent notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
